An App Blocker for Sleep

Get your phone
to sleep
before you do.

Benji is a friendly bear who tucks in your apps, walks you through a calm wind-down routine, and keeps the doomscroll locked away until morning.

“Once upon a bedtime, you put down your phone.”

For most of us, that’s the fairy tale. Benji is here to make it real — gently, every night, with a little bear who actually has a bedtime.

Why Sleep Is Hard

It’s not you.
It’s the infinite scroll.

Every app on your phone is built to keep you up. Notifications, autoplay, “just one more.” By the time you put it down, it’s 1 AM and you’ve forgotten what you were even looking for.

Benji takes the decision out of your hands, kindly. So sleep happens on purpose, not by accident.

What Benji Does
i.

An alarm that knows it's bedtime.

Tell Benji when you want to be asleep. He rings a gentle wind-down alarm in advance, then your wake-up alarm in the morning. The bear handles the math.

  • Wind-down alarm
  • Wake-up alarm
  • Forgiving snooze
ii.

A blocker that's kind about it.

When bedtime hits, the loud apps go quiet. Open one anyway and Benji slips in with a soft ‘not tonight.’ No alarms, no shaming, no streaks lost — just a tiny pause that’s hard to argue with.

  • Block any app on your phone
  • Spend sparks for a 5-min unlock
  • Auto-unblocks at wake-up
iii.

A wind-down you’ll actually do.

Brush teeth. Read. Stretch. Tea. Pick a handful of small steps, put them in your order, and check them off as you go. Sparks for every step, streaks for every night.

  • Build your own routine
  • Sparks + streaks
  • Quiet morning journal
A Night With Benji
9:42 PM

Benji nudges you.

Your routine alarm rings. The bear is ready, the moon is up, the wind-down begins.

9:45 PM

You open Twitter. Benji intervenes.

A soft 'not right now.' If you really need it, buy a few minutes with sparks. Otherwise — back to bed.

6:30 AM

Morning, friend.

Benji wakes you with a gentle alarm. You slept. Tonight, the routine starts again.

Benji never sells your data.
Benji never shows you ads.

Your sleep is yours. Routine data lives on your device. App-blocking happens locally. We’re a small team, and we don't care what apps you use.

Common Questions

Asked at bedtime.

Benji is a paid subscription that starts at $3.33/month, billed yearly ($39.99/year). You can also pay $2.99/week or $5.99/month if you don't want to commit to a year of great sleep. Or grab our limited lifetime deal for $89.99 if you'd rather skip subscriptions altogether. All plans include the full app — no feature gating between tiers.

On Android, Benji uses your device's accessibility services to detect when a blocked app opens and shows the gentle reminder over the top of it. On iOS, we use Screen Time APIs. Everything happens on your device — we never see what apps you use.

Yes. Tap 'Buy extra time' to spend earned sparks for 5 or 15 minutes of access. The friction is intentional — it gives you a moment to ask whether you actually need to scroll right now.

No. Routine progress, streak counts, and journal entries live on your device. We don't have a server that knows when you slept.

No judgement. The routine is a guide, not a quiz. Your wake-up alarm still rings at the time you set.

Each device runs Benji independently. Cloud sync is on our roadmap.

Not exactly — we don't measure your sleep stages. We help you start sleeping at the time you want, and protect that window from your phone.
